Failure in attempt to save Number 14 bus route

Written by on September 5, 2018

Despite attempts to save the full Number 14 bus route, Preston Bus will be cutting the service down.

The Number 14 will no longer serve Ronaldsway and Longsands and will instead terminate at Holme Slack.

The decision to trim the route was announced back in August but Preston Bus were forced to reconsider after a petition to stop the cut was launched.

Frustrated residents fought back in the hope of stopping the change because of how it would effect their travel.

Dorothy Aithal, 56, who lives in Squires Wood, said that the cut would add at least an extra 30 minutes to her journey to get to the nearest bus stop.

More than 1,100 people signed the petition but that wasn’t enough to stop Preston Bus trimming the route.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council has said how the change has been made solely by Preston Bus and that they made enquiries to other bus services about servicing the route but none were prepared.
