County Council halt Lancaster Road roadworks

Lancashire County Council has announced that they will be pausing the roadworks being done on Lancaster Road and Tithebarn Street.

Road workers are being diverted to highway projects elsewhere.

The roadworks being done around the Guild Hall and Preston Bus Station are part of an 18-month project to see new pavements, lighting, benches and a new road surface.

Tithebarn Street

county councillor Keith Iddon has told why they have decided to pause the work,

he said “We’ve temporarily stopped most of the improvement work around Lancaster Road, while other projects in the area are carried out. This includes the improvements to the Guild Hall entrance and the new public space on the former bus station apron.

“The team is currently working on highway projects elsewhere, so people may notice that some areas still look unfinished. However, a small team is still carrying out some minor work in this area.

“There are no road closures in place and all traffic management has now been removed from the site.
